My Story

Hi, my name is Max Morris, and I am the creator of Bay Aerial. I created this platform to showcase my extensive photography and videography portfolio which I’ve cultivated over the years during my nearly decade-long residence in the Bay Area. About 99% of what you see on this website is shot via drone, but occasionally you’ll run into a few DSLR shots/videos. My interest shifted in 2015 when I got my first drone and since then have been fixated on using drones to capture and create content from a more unique perspective.

I got into photography around the age of 14. I purchased a GoPro Hero 3 White edition after moving from Newport Beach CA, to Washington DC. I was using this camera for almost anything I could think of, and began teaching myself how to stitch short videos together edited to whatever song I chose to put in the background. I was hooked, and kept at it when I moved back to CA a few years later.

Fast-forward — I became proficient with DSLR cameras and learned more about camera specifics after taking multiple photography classes at school. I learned the foundations of shooting, photo editing, and how to manipulate and work a camera for different exposures. To keep improving my craft, I eventually invested into reputable film editing software that allowed me to become extremely proficient with video editing. I had become highly skilled at taking photos, videos, and video editing by the time I was 15.

I was thinking of investing into an expensive DSLR camera when someone recommended that I check out the option of getting a drone instead. I was hesitant, however, trusted my gut that it would be a more unique way to capture the places and things I saw, so I went with it. I bought my first drone in 2015 for a few hundred bucks. I flew it for no more than 5 minutes before it fell out of the sky into my pool and smoke started coming out of the water. After attempting to save it, the drone was absolutely destroyed. It could not have been more tragic. About a year later, I got my hands on a top of the market (at the time) Phantom 4 Pro, and flew it with so much caution after being traumatized with my prior experience. I never crashed it during the 6 years I flew it before I upgraded.

Since then, my progression has been almost entirely self-taught. Simply by getting outside and flying my drone as often as I could, I have slowly improved my craft over the past 10 years, building up my portfolio of unique photos, vibrant landscapes, and terabytes on terabytes of aerial footage. Through extensive trial and error, I have been able to develop my skills and create my own unique recognizable style.

Over the years, I've had the incredible opportunity to document awe-inspiring moments. Whether hovering above the French Alps in Chamonix Mont-Blanc, capturing the immense 30ft waves at Mavericks in Half-Moon Bay, or exploring the scenic Tuscany countryside, my drones and I have witnessed truly remarkable scenes. The videos listed on my ‘Video’ page showcase my creative vision in the best light possible and are a great representation of what I can do if given freedom to capture a specific location, event, or trip. Yet, this is only the beginning of my journey. I hope you enjoy these photos and videos as much as I enjoyed creating them.

I am thrilled that this has turned from a hobby into a small business where I can use my skills to help those around me. Whether you're seeking someone to document special moment, event, or wanting to capture the world from a unique aerial perspective, I am happy to bring my drone expertise to the occasion. Let's turn your visions into timeless memories from new heights.

Thank you for visiting my website. I am eager to meet new people and am happy to discuss any projects you see across my website, so feel free to shoot me a message! Get in contact with me below, or reach out directly at morrismaxwell4@yahoo.com or on one of my socials.
